After meeting online, we did the long distance thang for over 2 years — which meant a lot of different time zones, a lot of phone calls, eye-wateringly high phone bills, and falling asleep on the phone together pretty much every night. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we realised we were building a whole life together from the opposite sides of the world.
One of the biggest ways we connected was through video games, and Minecraft. Very romantic, very modern, very nerdy. We have spent HOURS building, planning, chatting, and generally being in our own tiny digital world together in pixel form. Add in a shared obsession with food, cooking, and figuring out what ethnicity are we going to make tonight's chicken. Things just pretty much escalated from there.
These days, we still love the simple things the most — good food, good company, a bit of silliness, and creating things together.So a relaxed wedding weekend that feels warm, fun, and full of personality feels exactly right for us.

The long answer is that Milk & Honey Ranch felt like the perfect place for a wedding weekend because everything is in the one spot. We love the idea of having the ceremony, reception and accommodations all together, without everyone needing to travel between different venues all day. It makes the whole weekend feel easier, more relaxed, and much more like one big gathering rather than a logistics exercise.
The atmosphere of the ranch was a huge part of it too. It has that warm, open, laid-back Texas/Aussie feeling we wanted, and the oak tree is a pretty special bonus. But truly, let the record show: the Highland cows were a major selling point.
